It's that time of the year again! Waiting all day for the inevitable, and at about 8:30 pm last night the first tornado's warnings popped up with all those curious little 'spinning circles' all over the DFW area.
At about 9:30 pm the Plano sirens (and messages) reminded us to head for 'protection' whatever that means. Anyway, two spinning circles indicating rotation aloft were sitting on top of Plano, which is about 30 miles NE of Dallas. Dee and I head for our closets(normal procedure) with flashlights, pillows, Mayflower Documents, radios, candles, matches, etc.
After a brief 'shudder' by 40-50 mile a hour winds 'straight-lining' the house causing the blinds to sway, the event was pretty much over for us. We did not get the usual hail as some did in the DFW area. There was sporatic surges of heavy rain but we are behind about 10' for the last 12 months. Roofs were torn off in some parts of the area. Nothing major as far as I can tell.
The folks in OK were not so lucky. One of my co-workers family lives in Lone Grove, west of Ardmore, just across the state line. His family was ok but a lot of damage has been reported.
We are safe again!
